We came up again for the 4th of July - another visit to the log cabin did not disappoint. In fact, I would almost say like a good wine, it only gets better with time. The views are out of this world, the cabin is first class and beautiful, the amenities and accommodations are better than the Four Seasons! Thank you again to Rod and his family for sharing their home with us. We can not wait to return and greatly appreciate sharing family memories in such a special place -- literally perched on top of God's country!

The cabin was better than expected and was even better than pictured. There was plenty of space for 12 of us. We enjoyed the hot tub and the large amount of space within the cabin. The views are to die for and we highly recommend this place. We plan to come again at some point.

We had a great experience! Big, spacious house. The entry through the garage is a bit awkward for some folks that have a harder time with stairs but otherwise it was all great.

Very tidy and lovely house equipped with everything you need. The communication was super easy and quick and the house looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The neighborhood is very conveniently located and extremely quiet. House is very clean, kids had a LOT of fun; Specifically with the huge tv and den area?? Would absolutely recommend to stay there!

This house looks amazing in the VRBO pictures, but the reality of the property far exceeded anything we expected. The views were breathtaking from multiple locations throughout the house and the amenities within the house itself were all top notch. We could not have been more pleased. This house is extremely special and we felt fortunate to rent it for a few days.

This is easily one of the best cabins in Truckee. We travel to the area almost every weekend in winter—have stayed at numerous places—and so far this has been our favorite. The views are surreal and the cabin has a rustic feel with the massive log construction, but is completely modern on amenities. It’s large enough to accommodate big groups and still provide privacy throughout. Worth every penny.

We loved our stay and would definitely recommend. The cabin is beautifully built, has breathtaking views, comfortable beds, and plenty of space for our family of seven. We enjoyed many sunsets in the hot tub overlooking the snowy mountains and were able to walk from the house to nearby snowshoeing. The one thing to note is there are a good amount of stairs so all guests should be able bodied. Would love to come back!

Rodney is a great host, and the log cabin is amazing - great location, amenities are incredible, super comfortable. Highly recommend!

A wonderful view from nearly every room in the house truly never got old. The great room was everyone’s favorite- comfortable and spacious but cozy in front of the fireplace- something for everyone!

Our family started a new tradition last year of celebrating Christmas together at a vacation rental. Our goal as a family was to find a log house in the mountains of Truckee CA with bedrooms and bathrooms for each of the three families, fireplaces, jacuzzi and a location that has majestic mountain views. This rental or Log Home as it may be, simply checked all of the boxes and the Owner simply was a pleasure to interact with thru-out the process. Our entire family had a wonderful time together at the Log House!

I've stayed in many cabins and this one has been the best! The Log House is definitely a cabin I would come back to. Beautiful views from all around and the inside was just great! Highly recommend.

We rented this home for Thanksgiving and invited both sides of the family. We ended up with 8 adults and 2 toddlers. The house was clean and well-stocked, check-in was easy, and communication was excellent. The views out each of the bedrooms were amazing to wake up to at sunrise every morning, and we got some fantastic family photos on the deck at sunset. There is plenty of space for everyone to have a place to “escape” to, but we found we spent most of our time in the great room/kitchen. I really appreciated the high chair at the house - I did not know it was there and would not have brought one if I had, so just a pointer for anyone else staying at the house with little ones! Beds were comfortable, and it was handy to have a full sized fridge downstairs in the bar for all the Thanksgiving meal prep as well! We went on daily walks around the neighborhood, and took some night time strolls to see the stars. Everyone had a great time and the house received compliments all-around. We would love to come back again!

Beautiful log home with amazing view and amenities!

Pictures don't do this house justice!!! We had 8 adults and a little one and there was more than enough room for everyone for sleeping as well as to hang out! Amazing views from hot tub and sunrises from all rooms! Snow was fantastic! Highly recommend!

Incredible views, at the top of the mountain. House has it all, chefs kitchen, entertainment, hot tub, steam shower, dry sauna, massage chair, fireplaces and more. Rod was very responsive as well for a couple of questions!

We had an amazing time!!! The owner was always available and helpful and the home was well equipped. Amazing views from every room, snow everywhere, sleds on the front porch to use, and plenty of room to spread out for a large group. We got snowed in because of a bad storm but still had a great time with movies to watch, games, hot tub, dry sauna, and steam shower! Gorgeous house that is very well maintained. Neighbor has a snowplow and came by early every morning to clear driveway. Would highly recommend this home! We would definitely reserve it for our next visit! Oh, the sunrise from the master bedroom is Spectacular!

Our family had a great stay at the Log House. The views are beautiful, and the house is spacious and nicely furnished. There are LOTS of stairs from the street level down to the house, and many more stairs to access the 3 levels of the home, so those with difficulty with stairs at altitude or very small children should take note. There are comfortable beds in 3 bedrooms for 6 guests (master with a king and 2 bedrooms on the lower level with double/queen beds)...the cabin description says up to 12 can sleep in the cabin, but if you have a group this large 6 of 12 guests will be sleeping on couches or air mattresses in the common areas. The cabin has 3 separate common areas: living/dining area on the main floor, big family room on the lower level, and a smaller loft with a couch and two chairs and the only television in the home. There's a great hot tub on the main deck with views. One final note--none of the 3 bedrooms has window coverings. The full moon during our stay shone brightly, as did the sunshine early and late. Hard to complain considering the beautiful views, but our group had trouble sleeping past the 5 am sunrise!

It was absolutely the most incredible experience. The house was absolutely beautiful! The sunrises overlooking the mountains were breathtaking. There is no where else I would ever go:-)!

If you want to have a complete resort like vacation spot, without the cost of the Ritz, this is your choice. We have rentals on VRBO and this is how we run our properties. Small details make all the difference. If you're going to Tahoe area, you have to check this place out.

Love the way giant wood beams were used to build this large airy house. Everything is new, great kitchen w commercial stove and disco lit hot tub w massage features. This feels like a very high end house as opposed to an affordable rental. Location is great, donner ski park is best place for young kids. Very mellow and enjoyable rentable for our young family.

This home is stunning! The only way our trip to Truckee could have been better is if we { 6 people } stayed longer. The views from the deck were amazing. The sunrise and sunset especially. We did a lot of sightseeing and found the location a great starting point. The owner was great to deal with. We had no issues. We had flown in from a stay in Vegas and found it easier checking in and out of the Log house than the hotel we stayed at. Seeing the deer each morning and evening from the deck was a bonus. The house itself is beautiful. The craftsmanship fantastic. There are a lot of nice homes around the area but with every thing this house has to offer you would be hard pressed to find a better place to stay. Our group is already talking about returning and I would definitely recommend this home to anyone who is looking to stay in that area.

We just returned from 8 nights in this amazing log cabin. The cabin was very clean upon arrival. The cabin is beautiful with amazing views. We saw deer from the deck every day. The size of the logs used in the construction of the cabin are what makes this place so unique. The furnishings are very nice and comfortable. We were all most impressed with the lighting in each room. The sauna and steam shower were very popular with our guests. The owner (Rod) was very easy to work with. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone.

We really enjoyed our vacation in Truckee. The log house was absolutely beautiful. We could not get over the amount of work that must of went into the construction of the home. The views were gorgeous. It was calming to stand on the balconies and look at the trees and watch the deer, rabbits and chipmunks that were literally just a few yards away. We would definitely recommend this home to friends. The one suggestion we have is possibly adding curtains or shades to the downstairs bedrooms for privacy and also to keep the rooms cooler during the summer.

By far the best house me and my friends have stayed at! We were snowed in for a few days and we couldn't have been happier. Breathtaking views to wake up to with a hot tub and sauna to finish off the day after snowboarding, couldn't be better! The owner is extremely helpful and made sure everything went well. House is roomy and clean. Couldn't have had a better trip!! Highly recommended to anyone who is interested!

Staying at The Log House in Truckee was incredible! We had 12 people and had plenty of room. The views are amazing, especially from the massive hot tub that we were in every night. Everything about this home is well thought out and easy to use. Great vacation in a great home!

My family of three kids (age 5-10), my husband, and I enjoyed 5 days at the Log House over ski week. The listing was spot on and we really appreciated a detailed PDF of instructions prior to arrival so we knew what coffee to bring, if we should bring DVDs etc. The owner is super helpful and gave us pointers on where to do ski school with my kids etc. We communicated by email several times prior to our arrival and he responded right away. Once we arrived the house was immaculate. Bedrooms spacious, clean, comfy beds (we are very picky). I enjoyed cooking family meals in the state of the art kitchen. The hot tub with views of the mountains and slopes is dreamy! I also really enjoyed some exercise on the treadmill in the mornings after dropping kids off at ski school. We had friends over for card games, had long luxurious breakfasts over coffee. Worth the splurge!

We chose the Log House for our family reunion vacation. With ten adults to accommodate, we needed a home with lots of space, and this home did not disappoint. The house is beautifully furnished and maintained, with fabulous views from the deck. We enjoyed the hot tub, and the sauna, as well as all of the other amenities of the property. We were just a short drive from horseback riding, white water rafting, and parasailing. Hiking trails were a short walk away. We also visited Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake. Rod was very helpful and pleasant, making this a very enjoyable experience. I would recommend this property, and hope to stay there again in the future.

The house is far up the slope of a mountainside in Truckee, and provided an excellent view of the valley around Donner Lake. The view from the hottub at night was particularly spectacular - the starry sky was easy to see with few city lights to impede it and it felt like we were sitting right at the edge of a cliff. The house is well appointed with high quality fixtures and design, and the big logs that make up the house are very impressive. Our party was relatively large - 4 couples with small kids and there was plenty of room for everyone to either hang together in the big main room or go off on our own for privacy in either the upstairs or downstairs. The owner provided excellent information on the house before our visit, was flexible with our arrangements, and was responsive to our many questions beforehand. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to spend a family or friends vacation in the Tahoe area.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful log cabin. We have 4 children under the age of 10 and the house was very comfortable for us. The decor of the home is top notch as is the view from the deck. The house is clean and has an appropriately stocked kitchen for preparing meals. We very much enjoyed the large hot tub with the unobstructed view of the valley below. Rod, the owner, was extremely pleasant, accessible, responsive and accommodating. During our stay we enjoyed the amenities Tahoe Donner has to offer, including both pools, the beach club, hiking trails and horse back riding. I would definitely recommend this home for families, or even a girls/guys weekend away.

Spectacular! Our family had the occasion to stay at the Log House over my daughter's wedding weekend. The place is magnificent, with sweeping views and every accommodation one could want. It is as amazing as the pictures depict, with five-star luxury accommodations all the way. The owner paid meticulous attention to every detail, from the way it was constructed to the decoration. We were looking for a place that photographed well because we were taking pre-wedding pictures of the bridal party. Everyone was amazed when they walked in. And the photos are so beautiful! We hope to return to The Log House and highly recommend the "experience," because staying there is so much more than just a stay at a vacation rental!

First off - this house is absolutely beautiful!! Second the owner is great! He was more than accommodating and was quick to respond to all of my emails. One person that stayed with us lost her SD card from her camera and Rod personally searched for it. I 100% recommend this house! The view from the hot tub is remarkable. We were fortunate to see sprites over the tips of the mountains far in the distance while sitting in the hot tub. The steam room and sauna felt amazing and the overall feel of the place was very cozy, high class cozy :)

The house was a just remarkable and was perfect for accommodating myself and my family members (10 of us stayed). The views are spectacular and the hiking around the area was great. Close to Donner so that we could spend time at the beach club and donner lake and take in the 4th of july activities and fireworks on the lake, which was just spectacular as well. Overall the weekend was just perfect and everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the house and all the amenities very much. It is one of the most specular log homes i have seen and is so perfect for the area. Thanks so much Rod, we just had a blast. I couldn't thank you any more. Highly recommended from this end. BILL

The home is beautiful and very well maintained. It was very clean and had plenty of towels and bedding. The kitchen was well stocked with all you would need to prepare meals. It looks just like the pictures and the view was unbelievable. We were there with 3 generations including younger kids. We went there in hopes of sledding and snowboarding and there was still plenty of snow even for March. We were close to many ski resorts but were also able to sled with the kids right near the house. I'm sure there are lots of things to do in the summer months as well. I would definitely recommend this for families or several adults because there is plenty of room for all. The owner was very accommodating and made us feel very welcome.

Two families (4 adults and 5 kids) stayed in this beautifully appointed, spacious rental for 3 nights. It truly is awesome!!!! Views Are magnificent - relax in the huge hot tub while taking it all in. Very convenient to ski slopes, hiking, community center, and town. 3 floors with many awesome showers and living spaces - dry and wet sauna, exercise room, etc. The owner was very helpful and quick to respond. We will definately be back again and again!

We rented the house for my husband's 40th birthday. The view, accommodations and customer service was amazing. We were 15-20 minutes from most of the ski resorts which gave us the option of skiing somewhere different everyday. Super comfortable while still being luxurious. Highly recommend!!

We had such a wonderful time at the Log House! The place was just incredible -- a gorgeous home plus views that are indescribable. Plus, the home is very close to some of the best skiing in the Tahoe region. I would recommend it to anyone!

We couldn't have had a better time! This house is really incredible and the views from up here are off the charts. Everything was perfect. This is a log house that you rarely see for rental. You have to see it to truely appreciate it! We'll be back!
