The Log House is a gorgeous privately owned 5,250 sq. ft. log home in Truckee, CA constructed in 2005.  The house is located in the Tahoe Donner Association at one of the highest home sites available ... 7,250 ft. near the Glacier Point trail portal within walking distance from the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area. The house has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, plus a loft with a very comfortable hide-a-bed which can be easily used as a 5th bedroom.  A multi-room sound system enables music to be streamed throughout the house and a new theater system with 85" Sony Smart TV will keep you entertained.  A 3-car garage keeps your cars safe from our incredible winter snow storms! This home is not only defined by the massive 24" plus logs but the incredible 180 degree views of Mt. Rose, the Truckee Meadow, Northstar Ski resort, the Pacific Crest, and Donner Pass from its two rear deck areas. 

Guests of The Log House enjoy all the member benefits of the Tahoe Donner Association, including the Downhill Ski Area, Cross Country Center, Equestrian Center, Campground, 18-hole Golf Course, Recreation Center, Clubhouse and Beach Club Marina via two Transferable Guest Cards.

Lake Tahoe is only 20 miles away from the property and in-between you have multiple world-class ski resorts including Palisades, Alpine Meadows and Northstar.  Locally, within 10 miles you have multiple smaller lakes accessible for boating, fishing, and water sports including Lake Donner, Boca Lake, and Stampede Lake.  Outdoor recreation activities in this area are endless ... so come enjoy!

Tahoe Donner Association Amenities

The Log House is located in the amazing Tahoe Donner Association www.tahoedonner.com. We have some incredible amenities in our community that are available to our Guests. Two Transferable Guest Cards, valid for up to 8 people, will be provided to you at Check-In that will allow you to access all amenities at special Guest rates if any charges apply.

 

The Log House Amenities

The Log House itself is loaded with amenities and must be seen to be believed. The Great Room has 25 ft. floor-to-ceiling windows and gas fireplace to compliment the immaculate views. The kitchen is fully loaded with stainless steel appliances -- refrigerator, 48" range with 2 ovens, built-in microwave, dishwasher and coffee/cappuccino machine. The bar & rec room area has its own refrigerator and dishwasher, another massive fireplace, wine cellar, steam shower, and dry sauna in addition to a highly functional work out area with Olympic weights and a stair master. The top rear deck has beautiful stainless steel barbecue, fire pit, two propane heaters, ample seating and a specially designed area for the 10-person Jacuzzi that is over 30 ft. above the ground and perfect for enjoying the massive views or the night stars.

The sleeping arrangements are as follows:

*  Guest Bedroom II (queen)
*  Guest Bedroom III (king)
*  Loft (queen hide-a-bed - unusually comfortable)

We also have multiple 9 foot couches for the last minute additions ... or the kids!  The Master Bedroom has its own gas fireplace and opens up to the top deck only footsteps from the Jacuzzi. Both guest bedrooms open up onto the lower deck area so that all guests enjoy the same massive views from the comfort of their sleeping quarters.

The house is accented with beautiful granite, slate, and tile work, two log staircases, and an amazing salvaged wood floor made of 2.5" thick, 27" wide and 30' planks cut from century old timbers recovered from a canal in Canada. There is full wired and wireless internet access throughout the house (provided by Starlink), a 55" Samsung HDTV system in the loft, a new theater system with 85" Sony HDTV and surround sound in the lower level, and a multi-room audio system throughout the house controlled by Crestron touch panels.

Rental Policies and Conditions

Payments Accepted: Credit Cards, Personal Checks, Certified Checks, Bank Transfers.

A beautiful home only stays beautiful with a lot of TLC ... so this home has a strict non-smoking no-animals policy.  We require a $500.00 cleaning service and hot tub fee with every reservation so that after your departure the house is perfect for our next guest. 

Additional cleaning and laundry services can be provided upon request at an additional cost.  Let us know what you need and we'll do our best to accommodate. 

The Guest may choose to obtain a Property Damage Protection policy for up to $5,000.00 from CSA Travel Protection.  The policy can be obtained by contacting CSA Travel Protection at (888) 501-3025.

For all Guests at The Log House, a $500.00 security deposit is pre-authorized to your credit card (but not charged) to cover any incidentals or damage not covered by the optional insurance policy.  All damage in excess of the insurance policy will be charged to your credit card after your visit.  The security deposit will be authorized against your credit card 5 days prior to check-in.  If no damage occurs during your stay ... then the authorization is cancelled and you will see nothing on your credit card.

Please be aware that the Town of Truckee has strict Short Term Rental (STR) rules.  If violated during your stay all related fines will be charged back to you as part of the security deposit.  It is the renter's responsibility to be aware of these rules and abide by them during your stay.  Typical fines range between $1500 - $5000 per night ... so please stay compliant!


The Log House is located in Truckee, CA just 20 miles north of Lake Tahoe.  This property is located at 7,250 feet so winter weather conditions can get challenging at this altitude.  A 4-wheel drive vehicle or all-wheel drive vehicle with snow tires is the only safe way to get around on some of our winter days!  The property looks directly across at the top of Northstar ski resort only 14 miles away.  Within only 20 miles are multiple world class ski resorts including Palisades, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Sugarbowl, Diamond Peak, and Mt. Rose.  The town of Truckee is a classic "old west" railroad town right off Interstate Highway 80 between Sacramento, CA and Reno, NV.

From Bay Area / Sacramento:  Take Hwy 80 East to the Donner Pass Road exit, Exit 184.  Turn left onto Donner Pass Road, cross back over the freeway and proceed past the Shell station.  At the first light, turn left onto Northwoods Blvd. Stay straight at the Northwoods/Northwoods stop sign and go up the hill. Turn right onto Fjord, left onto Alder Creek. Turn left on Skislope and drive to the very top. Just after Glacier Way you will come over the crest and the house will be on the right hand side -- 14800 Skislope Way.  Please drive a 4X4 Vehicle in Winter Conditions! The house is accessed through the garage so the garage code will be provided after your reservation is approved.

From Reno:  Take Hwy 80 West to the Donner Pass Road exit, Exit 184.  Turn right onto Donner Pass Road and proceed past the Shell Station.  Then follow the same directions as above.
